Peter Jarver died last week after battling cancer.
He spent over 20 years in the NT and was most recognised for his unique images of lightening storms across the Top End.
His works were shown in Parliament House in 1990 and also feature in numerous private and corporate collections around the world.
Peter Jarver left the NT for northern Queensland nine and a half years ago, but his legacy of work in the Top End remains.
HEATHER STEWART: Peter Jarver photographed central and northern Australia for over 20 years.
He came to the Territory as a teenager seeking adventure and moved to Darwin from Adelaide in 1979.
He started up a small picture framing and film processing business a year later to support his passion -- photographing skyscapes.
His dedication to his work was something that his friends had to learn to tolerate.
WILLIE BURGESS, FRIEND: If you're going on a trip with him he is always stopping to take photographs so he holds up the show quite a bit, so you really don't plan on going too far every day.
A trained electrical engineer, Peter Jarver was able to apply his technical abilities in the field and modify photographic equipment to capture his unique images.
He was renowned for his signature photographs of lightning shooting across NT skies.
PETER JARVER, PHOTOGRAPHER: I don't know what it is about myself and thunderstorms but I have a magnetic attraction for them.
And that's what actually inspired my professional photography, was the fact that I just wanted to photograph thunderstorms.
Peter Jarver braved tropical monsoonal conditions and the rugged outback to capture his images.

And I appreciate the images and I suppose everyone appreciates them, because they see them, but to get out there and capture them is another thing.
I mean to get a rainbow through a full waterfall at Jim Jim Falls in the peak of the wet season means you have got to get there to get them.
It's just the richness of the colours and the light and it's just very, very obvious that he has put a lot of time into his work.
It's superb work and it's internationally reknowned.
It was the NT's loss when Peter Jarver moved to northern Queensland nine years ago.
He set up three galleries there.
PETER JARVER: Whilst I'm very proud of my associations with the NT, State borders don't really come into it when you are a landscape photographer.
So there's just a whole new environment that I find is going to challenge me personally as a photographer.
Peter Jarver's photos remain for the public to admire.
Every visitor flying into Darwin Airport can see his prints hung with pride.
His published work includes 8 books and 10 calendars.
There is also a large catalogue of images which has not yet been seen.

Peter Jarver is survived by his wife, Deborah, and Darwin-born children, Kristabelle 21 and Lewis 12.
